Although most people in the UK with a varied diet are likely to be meeting their minimum daily requirement of protein for basic health*, many of us could feel much better if we had more each day.**

  • Optimise the benefits of protein for our well-being, including better recovery from exercise
  • Help us feel more satisfied and fuller between meals, making us less likely to reach for unhealthy snacks

Bring on the protein supershakes!

Protein supershakes are a super-simple and delicious way for anyone to up their protein intake, as well as a great opportunity to add other healthy ingredients to make a nutrient-packed snack, breakfast or light meal on the go.

The basic supershake formula

To make a protein supershake combine the following in a blender:

  • A high quality, clean ingredient protein powder
  • Your chosen liquid, (e.g., water, milk, non-dairy alternative or a combination)
  • Fresh or frozen fruit and/ or veggies
  • Ice, (if not using frozen fruit/veggies)
  • Optional added healthy fat such as peanut (or other nut) butter, frozen avocado, (now available at most supermarkets), or seeds, (e.g., chia, flax)
  • Optional added ingredients such as oats, e.g., for a heartier breakfast smoothie
  • Optional added nutrition supplements such as a high quality greens powder to boost your phytonutrient intake, (nutrients from fruit and veg), if you’re struggling to eat enough fruit and veg daily or a gut health supplement. All available from my Wellness Shop
